Hello to the Oldies

When making the dreadful decision of what outfit to wear for the day, I usually go to all of my new (or newish) items.  I have a theory that doing this will create wardrobe ruts.  Once you are comfortable wearing a select few items of clothing, they become your safety pieces.  It's like that ex-boyfriend you know you should stay away from, but for some reason you keep going back.  You go back to that ex- boyfriend (or in this case, those certain garments) because it's safe and easy.  Well - STOP.  I know, I know, easier said than done.  Here are a few things I try to do when incorporating new and old items into an outfit.

 My tips:
Explore your wardrobe, combine old pieces with small new items.  Here I paired leopard loafers and lots of fun bracelets to create a trendier outfit.

Try layering, it can completely change the look and feel of an outfit.

Play dress up with your own clothes.  This is the perfect way to find new ways of wearing clothes you thought you were done with.

Always get dressed with your hair and makeup done.  This sounds odd, but seeing yourself put together can make an outfit ten times better.

Blouse: Flirt (TJ Maxx) Simialr - Love the collar
Cardigan: F21 Similar
Jeans: 7 For All Mankind (TJ Maxx) Similar
Loafers: Target
Watch: MK
Bracelets: Old Navy, F21, T+JDesigns

The blouse, cardigan, and jeans are all old.  There are so many different ways to style simple pieces, just try and see what happens.

  1. Isn't amazing what a difference it makes if you get dressed with hair and make-up done!!? It does really help!
Love your look here and those are such great tips.
    Have a lovely day, hun!
