More details on my favorite products and tools.
The products I use on a daily basis tend to stay the same, but I do enjoy experimenting with something different from time to time. I love finding a new product that does exactly what I need. One product I think I will always use is MAC Studio Fix Powder Compact. I have used this product for almost five years and it would be an understatement to say I love it. I am utterly obsessed with it. I have combination skin, but I tend to notice more oil by the end of the day, so powder is perfect for me.
The next product I'm hooked on would have to be Secret Camouflage by Laura Mercier. Laura Mercier is known for the Flawless Face look and this product is one of the most important parts of creating it. The concealer compact comes with two shades, which is perfect for obtaining the exact color to match your unique skin tone. After trying many different concealers, I have found this to be the best when it comes to my problem areas (uneven skin tone and redness).
Right now I am experimenting with BB cream. After all the hype BB cream has caused in the US, I decided I needed to see for myself what was so great about this stuff. I will say I like it, but it is not a cure all for your makeup routine. I found BB cream works best as a replacement for tinted moisturizer and primer. Other than that it will not be making my list of beauty must-haves.
The last two products I am currently using are a few MAC Blushes and the NYC Bronzer. MAC has such a wide variety of blush colors. I like to have multiples, depending on what look I am going for. Powder blushes are my safe go-to, but I recently decided I want to try a cream blush. We'll see if I actually get that crazy. The NYC Bronzer was a total underdog surprise; I bought this at the drugstore a few weeks ago when I ran out of my MAC Golden Bronzer and now I'm addicted. I don't think I have ever felt this way about a drugstore product, but it's better than the high-end product (at least in my opinion).
The brushes I am currently using are by MAC and Elf. I'm sure it's pretty obvious now that I'm a sucker for MAC. After trying a few Elf brushes, I was quite pleased by the quality. My expectations for the Elf Powder Brush were small, but this brush is so soft and has not shed at all. I highly recommend this brush if you use powder foundation.
The MAC Buffer Brush is a versatile blending brush. I use it to blend my bronzer, blush, and overall face products. It's extremely soft and fabulously fluffy. The only downside of this tool, is the price. MAC brushes are definitely pricey, but as long as you take care of them (clean once a week) they will last quite a while.
I really like the way the MAC Duo Fiber Face Brush sweeps over your skin without any lines. I have found that some brushes that have fine hairs show the lines of your makeup - not cute! When I use this brush for bronzer there are absolutely not streaky lines from my brush, such a good thing.
Best advice I have: Go to the different makeup counters at a department store, the makeup artists have so many great tips and tons of helpful information.
